Apart from our eco resort and accommodation activities here on Ko Phra Thong, we are proudly collaborating with Naucrates NGO, which is conserving sea turtle nesting, and doing other conservation, and biological research on Ko Phra Thong Island. The project has been carrying out conservation work since 1996, when the project was started by an Italian lady, Monica Aureggi. When you stay at Horizon Eco Resort, you might very often see Naucrates project members conducting different fieldwork surveys on our local beaches and on the local Hornbill Hill too, from early mornings until late evenings.
The project is not only about doing research but also about sharing knowledge of what things are conducted to protect the nature and the wildlife on Koh Phra Thong Island and raising awareness on environmental issues.
The Project staff is hosting Turtle Talk events on a weekly basis at our resort and the events are so popular that they gather lots of people together from other resorts as well to share their passion for nature and wildlife.

On most of the days the Naucrates Team is involving our guests in their project activities too. The team is happy to take our guests for early morning walks on the beach to monitor sea turtle nesting or for boat surveys to Koh Ra Island that is located to the north of Koh Phra Thong. And every week we are conducting beach clean up events with the Naucrates team so that everyone, from children to adults, can have a chance to make a real difference on the Island by clearing out our local beaches from trash.
